Earlier this August, I had the chance to visit Chef’s Live Kitchen, one of the most popular buffet restaurants at InterContinental Tokyo Bay in Takeshiba, Tokyo.
What makes this place special is the live kitchen concept—chefs prepare fresh dishes right in front of you, adding a sense of excitement and elegance to the dining experience.
A Sparkling Start
Our buffet journey began with a refreshing sparkling drink, beautifully served in tall glasses.
The fruity aroma and light bubbles set the perfect mood, making us look forward to the wide variety of dishes to come.

Appetizer Plate: A Colorful Beginning
My first plate included:
- A croissant and a soft roll
- Sardines with tomato sauce
- Bruschetta topped with fresh vegetables
- An open sandwich with taco-style toppings
Each dish was beautifully presented and well-balanced in flavor. I especially enjoyed the fish dish—the sauce paired wonderfully with the tender texture of the fish.

Fresh Salads in Cups
One unique touch at Chef’s Live Kitchen was the salad served in cups.
The colorful vegetables were topped with a soft-boiled egg, and you could drizzle your choice of dressing at the table.
It looked stylish, felt hygienic, and added a fun, casual vibe to the buffet.

Main Plate: Hearty and Satisfying
For the main course, I enjoyed a wide range of dishes, including:
- A hot dog topped with sausage and sauce
- Roasted beef with rice and vegetables
- Crispy fried chicken and other hot dishes
- A rich curry with seasonal vegetables
The buffet offers both Japanese and Western options, with enough variety to keep everyone happy. The portions were generous, and it was easy to go back for seconds.

Sweet Ending
Although I couldn’t capture many photos of the dessert section, there were plenty of options such as cakes, ice cream, and parfait-style sweets. It was the perfect way to wrap up the meal on a sweet note.

Final Thoughts
The Chef’s Live Kitchen at InterContinental Tokyo Bay offers more than just a buffet—it’s a full dining experience with seasonal dishes, live cooking, and creative presentation.
With themes changing throughout the year, every visit feels fresh and exciting. If you’re in Tokyo and looking for a slightly luxurious buffet experience, this is definitely a great choice.
