Solo Drinking at Hidakaya

Hidakaya—I’ve been coming here for over 15 years now. What I love about it is the affordability. Recently, it’s become my go-to spot for a solo drink. Here’s a little glimpse into my usual experience.

Tonkotsu Ramen with a Twist

First up, as usual, I ordered the tonkotsu ramen. It’s a simple and comforting dish, but I like to add my own twist to it. A drizzle of chili oil gives it a nice spicy kick. This small adjustment elevates the usual flavor.

The chili oil blends into the soup, enhancing the richness and depth of flavor. And the best part—it’s still cheap!

Fried Chicken and Highball

Next, I ordered some fried chicken as a snack. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside—perfect with a cold highball. I ended up drinking seven highballs that night.

There’s just something irresistible about fried food and alcohol. It’s a pairing I can’t quit.

Zha Cai and Other Snacks

On top of that, I ordered some zha cai, a three-item snack platter, and three gyoza. I got so caught up in eating that I forgot to take pictures, but here’s one with the last bit of zha cai.

Hidakaya never disappoints—it’s always tasty and, more importantly, easy on the wallet. It’s the perfect spot when I want to enjoy a quiet drink alone.

Wrap-Up

Solo drinking at Hidakaya is always satisfying—cheap and delicious. The ramen, fried chicken, and highballs are all easy to enjoy without breaking the bank. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
