Enjoying the Honmaguro Fair and Kuromi Collaboration at Sushiro!

I visited Sushiro again! This time, I indulged in the Kuromi collaboration menu and the ongoing Honmaguro Fair. Sushiro never ceases to surprise with something new every time I go, and this second visit was another satisfying culinary experience.

Kuromi x Sushiro Collaboration Menu

First up was the Kuromi collaboration. The menu was playful and fun, and the standout dish was the “Yakiimo Brûlée.” This dessert had the natural sweetness of sweet potato combined with a perfectly crisp brûlée top, creating a delicious contrast of textures. I was amazed that such a delightful dessert could be found at Sushiro, and the reasonable price makes it tempting to order again and again!

Sushi Menu Impressions

Next, I tried a variety of sushi dishes. Here are some highlights:

Ebi Tempura Sushi

The crispy batter was freshly fried, and the plump shrimp was a perfect match. A bold and hearty dish that delivers great satisfaction.

California Roll

Filled with avocado and shrimp tempura, topped with tiny, crunchy tobiko. The texture was delightful, and the bright presentation made it even more appetizing.

Maguro Nigiri

A timeless classic! The maguro nigiri was as fresh and delicious as always, with the rich flavor of the tuna shining through in every bite.

The Honmaguro Fair

The highlight of this visit was the “Honmaguro Fair.” Sushiro is currently offering a special selection of dishes featuring luxurious honmaguro, or bluefin tuna.

What is Honmaguro?

Honmaguro, also known as bluefin tuna, is the most prized variety of tuna, known for its high fat content. The “otoro,” or fatty belly, is particularly rich, offering a sweet, melt-in-your-mouth experience.

Here’s how it compares to other types of tuna:

Yellowfin Tuna: Less fatty and offers a light, refreshing flavor. Its flesh is lighter in color, with a yellowish-pink hue. While great for everyday meals, it doesn’t have the depth of honmaguro.

Bigeye Tuna: More fatty than yellowfin, with a richer taste. The red meat is paler than honmaguro but offers a well-balanced flavor.

Honmaguro is beloved for its deep red color and robust flavor. Each part of the fish—akami (lean), chutoro (medium fatty), and otoro (fatty belly)—offers a different taste and texture, with the otoro being the ultimate indulgence, thanks to its rich, sweet fat.

The Honmaguro Fair is a rare chance to enjoy high-quality bluefin tuna at an affordable price! Sushiro continues to surprise me with new delights, making it a place I want to visit over and over again.
