Delicious Kaki Fry Set at Kiyoe Shokudo

During a recent visit to Kiyoe Shokudo (as featured on their Instagram), I tried their seasonal specialty, a delightful Kaki Fry Teishoku (Fried Oyster Set Meal). For just ¥1000, this set offers an amazing combination of hearty portions and great flavors—an absolute steal for anyone craving a comforting meal.

What’s Included:

Fried Oysters (Kaki Fry): Served in their shells, each crispy bite of these succulent oysters was paired with a rich and creamy tartar sauce. The tartar really elevated the fried oysters, adding a burst of flavor to each bite.

Sashimi: A small side dish of fresh sashimi was included, featuring both salmon and a silver-skinned fish. It was a fresh and delicate addition to the heavier fried oysters, balancing the meal perfectly.

Side Dishes: Several small sides of vegetables were served alongside the main, including lightly pickled vegetables, shredded konnyaku noodles, and a soft, simmered kiriboshi daikon dish. These added great variety and ensured that the meal never got boring.

Miso Soup: A classic bowl of miso soup was packed with flavor and garnished with green onions. Perfect for warming up the palate between bites.

Rice (Free Large Serving): I opted for a large serving of rice, which came free with the set. The rice was fluffy and provided the perfect foundation to soak up all the different flavors.

A Balanced, Flavorful Experience

The beauty of this teishoku lies in its balance. The combination of textures, from the crisp fried oysters to the tender sashimi, and the contrast of rich and refreshing flavors, made for a well-rounded meal. There’s also a lot to appreciate in the smaller side dishes—each bite offered something different, ensuring that the meal never became monotonous.

Perfect for a Treat

At ¥1000, this meal is a great value. It’s the perfect treat for when you want to enjoy something a little special without breaking the bank. Whether you’re an oyster lover or just looking for a filling, well-balanced Japanese meal, Kiyoe Shokudo’s Kaki Fry Teishoku is worth checking out.
